The collection of scientific papers "Electronics and Information Technologies" has been published since 1966. In 1966-2010, the journal was published under the title "Theoretical Electrical Engineering".
"Theoretical Electrical Engineering" is one of the first scientific and technical publications in Ukraine devoted to the problems of theoretical electrical engineering, electronics, and modeling.

The collection was created on the initiative of the rector of Lviv State University named after I. Franko, Professor M. Maksymovych, who was the editor-in-chief of the collection until 1981. Subsequently, the chief editors of the collection were: Professor L. Synytsky (1981-1991), Professor P. Stakhiv (1991-1996), and Professor I. Bolesta (1996-2024). Since 2025, the annual collection has been headed by chief co-editors Professors Oleh Bordun and Ivan Karbovnyk.

During all the years of its existence, the journal was included in the list of publications approved by the Higher Attestation Commission, in which the main results of dissertations may be published.

Currently, the collection is included in the List of Scientific Professional Publications of Ukraine (category "B") in the following specialties: 171 Electronics, 122 Computer Science, and 126 Information Systems and Technologies.
