LITERARY CRITICISM AND THEORY IN THE JOURNAL SLOVENSKÉ POHĽADY AT THE END OF THE 19th CENTURY
Анотація
The study presented an experimental research intentions or methodology which allows us to track literary thinking in literary criticism. The starting point of our research is the revived journal Slovenské pohľady in the years 1881 – 1891 under the leadership of S. H. Vajanský and J. Škultéty, specifically volumes 1881, 1885, 1890, 1891.The result was a differentiation, in which S. H. Vajanský represents an impressionistic literary-critical strategy, primarily based on his own reader impression. The contributions of J. Škultéty and J. Vlček exhibited characteristics of normative criticism, with J. Vlček significantly surpassing both colleagues, as he focused on the most components of literary science. Moreover, he supported his claims with citations from literary works.
