Спонукання візантійських юдеїв до хрещення під час місіонерської політики імператора Василія І (867–886)

Анотація


Євреї, які проживали на території Візантії в другій половині ІХ ст., перебували в орбіті місіонерських зусиль засновника Македонської династії, імператора Василія І (867–886). Керуючись ідеєю уніфікувати релігійний ландшафт своєї держави, цей правитель намагався створити якомога сприятливіші умови для тих представників єврейської меншини, які вирішили добровільно прийняти хрещення. Насамперед потенційних прозелітів намагалися заохочувати змінити віру, пропонуючи їм різноманітні матеріальні блага та пільги. Про ці заохочення мало що відомо і в науковій літературі цьому аспекту майже не приділено уваги. У цій статті ми маємо на меті розглянути різноманітні спонукання до хрещення, опираючись на аналіз писемних джерел.
