РЕЛІГІЯ ЯК ПОЛІТИЧНИЙ ЧИННИК У ВІЗАНТІЙСЬКІЙ МЕНТАЛЬНОСТІ VII СТОЛІТТЯ

Анотація


Мета статті полягає у висвітленні політичного трактування релігії у Візантійській ментальності VII століття. Після Халкедонського собору (451 р.) богословська непримиренність призвела до розколу в християнстві, результатом чого стало утворення та заснування помісних монофізитських церков. Одночасно з розвитком цих громад розпочався процес формування їхньої християнської ідентичності. Монофізити сприймали прохалкедонську церкву як імперську. Відповідно, це створювало загрозу політичної неоднорідності, відчуженості від імператора та потенційного територіального розмежування. У VII ст., коли перси й араби вторглися на територію Візантійської імперії, потреба в релігійній єдності провінцій стала гострою необхідністю. Одним із найважливіших завдань імператорів було переконати монофізитів визнати Халкедонський собор, щоб об’єднати їх в одну Церкву під протекторатом імперії. Головна ідея статті полягає в тому, що пряме втручання імператора у справи церкви означає, що християнство розглядалося як політичний інструмент в руках візантійського правителя.
