Анотація

The publication deals with traditional Ukrainian folk beliefs about premature death, including
features of the funeral and memorial rites to protect the living from possible harmful effects. The article
briefly describes the most widespread category of “impure” death, focusing on suicide, unbaptized
children who died and “walking” deceased.
