Соціалізація іноземців засобами української мови як лінгвістична проблема
Анотація
Background. Linguistic socialization is an essential component of socially determined language competence, which is the object of a sociological direction in synchronous sociolinguistics. The socialization of different categories of foreigners in the Ukrainian social and cultural milieu by means of the Ukrainian language is an important task of modern sociolinguistics.
Purpose. The purpose of the article is to follow the socialization of foreign citizens of different social groups (refugees, diplomatic representatives, and students) in the Ukrainian society, to identify the conditions and needs of the integration process, to substantiate the role of language as one of the key factors of successful socialization of an individual based on the analysis of linguistic and pedagogical studies.
Results. Mastering the language of a certain social community is a prerequisite for a person’s socialization. Societies ensure that its members master the language that accumulates cultural heritage, values, ideas, and social experience. When different categories of foreigners enter into the Ukrainian social and cultural space, they do so through the means of the Ukrainian language. Thus, the knowledge of the language is a necessary condition for life, work, or study in Ukraine. Mastering the Ukrainian language is a process of mastering foreign language reality and a linguistic mechanism of cognition of Ukrainian social and cultural reality. When finding oneself in new conditions of communication, foreigners have to be able to find those models of linguistic behaviour in their own communicative competence which correspond to new situations of communication. For different categories of foreigners (refugees, businessmen, journalists, diplomats, and students), language becomes a means of communication and activity in view of their social status. Depending on the motivation for studying the Ukrainian language, foreigners will have a different range of topics and situations. The teaching of the socialized Ukrainian language, the selection of educational material, forms and ways of its presentation takes place taking into account a real interlocutor and communicative needs of foreigners.
