Ситуаційність самоідентифікації людини українсько-польського пограниччя як проблема соціолінгвістики

Анотація


Background. Language is one of the criteria for self-identification, as it is able to unite and separate people in society. Sociolinguistic investigation in the period of the formation and development of information-oriented society in boundary regions are the means of forming of partnership policy and good-neighborly relations, they help to solve the security problems for the proper functioning of the state in the world.

Purpose. To show on the empirical material, collected in Ivano-Frankivsk, that the scientificbased and parlayed sociolinguistic knowledg is needed as the means of forming of a new security culture of the state in the world.

Results. The linguistic biographies of persons of Polish origin in Ivano-Frankivsk are analyzed taking into consideration the division according to age criteria, gender, education, and especially, according to national and confessional affiliation. It is presented how the abovementioned criteria play the important role in distinguishing the main features of the problem of self-identification, namely, “transitivity” (the possibility of changing the self-identification of residents in general) and “situationality” (change of self-identification depending on the expediency of the situation in each particular case). The analysis of linguistic biographies of respondents from the oldest age group shows the complexity of the situation in which the person from boundary region is situated and creates unconditional reasons that exactly these people are the most motivated to the rapprochement with culture of a neighboring state.
