The new ternary intermetallic compound EuGa1.682(18)Sn0.318(18) was synthesized and its crystal
structure was determined by X-ray powder diffraction
(structure type AlB2, Pearson symbol
hP3, space group P6/mmm, a = 4.3863(2), c = 4.5762(2) Å, Z = 1). The structure is characterized by a statistical distribution of Ga and Sn
atoms, which form planar graphite-like 63 nets stacked in the
crystallographic direction
[001].
