The article summarizes the ricegrowing techniques as recorded in the famous encyclopedia “Tiangong Kaiwu” of the Ming dynasty written by Song Yingxing. In addition, the articledescribes the views of the Ming scientist son the problems that faced by farmers of that time and explains the origins of these problems.
