The crystal structure of the new Tb13ZnSn13
compound (space group I4/mmm, a = 11.599(2) Å, c = 27.247(5) Å) was determined by X-ray single crystal
diffraction. The composition was confirmed by EDX
analysis. The compound crystallizes in its own structure type, which can be
built from fragments that are related to the U3Si2, CsCl, PtHg2, α-Po, and InBi structure types.
