Using the melt-quenching method, the
glass-formation region was investigated in the quasi-ternary system Ag2S–HgS–GeS2.
The minimum content of the glass-forming element GeS2 is 45 mol.%. Characteristic temperatures were determined for the
glassy alloys and optical absorption spectra of the glasses were recorded. It
was established that the optical bandgap energy varies from 1.7 to 2.3 eV.
