The phase relations in the ternary system Tb-Cu-Sn have been studied at 670 K over the whole concentration range by X-ray powder diffraction and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The phase equilibria at 670 K are characterized by the formation of five ternary compounds: TbCuSn (LiGaGe-type, space group P63mc, = 0.4517(2), = 0.7272(3) nm), Tb3Cu4Sn4 (Gd3Cu4Ge4-type, space group Immm, = 0.4421(3), = 0.6939(3), = 1.4547(5) nm), TbCu5Sn (CeCu5Au-type, space group Pnma, a = 0.82205(1), = 0.49789(3), = 1.05766(6) nm), Tb1.9Cu9.2Sn2.8 (Dy1.9Cu9.2Sn2.8-type, space group P63/mmc, = 0.50355(9), = 2.0414(6) nm) and Tb2Cu3.5Sn5.5 (Sm2Cu4Sn5-type, space group I4mm, = 0.4404(4), = 2.5854(3) nm).
