A new ternary
intermetallic compound, DyGa0.5-0.4Ge1.3-1.4, was synthesized and its crystal structure was
determined by X-ray powder diffraction (structure type Y(Ga0.4Ge0.6)1.7,
Pearson symbol oI16,
space group Imma, a = 4.0641(3)-4.0709(3), b = 4.0870(3)-4.0845(3), c = 13.888(11)-13.8426(9) Å,
Z = 4). The structure
type Y(Ga0.4Ge0.6)1.7 is closely related to
the structure type GdSi1.4, and belongs to the family of structures with
trigonal-prismatic coordination of the smallest atoms.
