The new deuteride
UCoSnD0.6 was studied by neutron powder diffraction, magnetic
measurements, specific heat studies and Mössbauer
spectroscopy. It was shown that the insertion of deuterium atom inside the U3Co
tetrahedra with concomitant lattice expansion by 3.2%
leads to the pronounced enhancement of magnetism. The reason for such a behaviour is a partial
localization of the electronic states, which is reflected in the increase of
the density of states at the Fermi level and increase of the s-electron density on the Sn nuclei.
