The isothermal sections of the quasi-ternary NiX–La2X3Ga(In)2X3 (X = S, Se) systems at 770 K were constructed using X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure of the quaternary compound La3NiGaS7 (structure type La3MnGaS7, Pearson symbol hP24, space group P63, a = 1.01605(4), c = 0.60397(3) nm, RI = 0.0856, Rp = 0.1897) was determined by X-ray powder diffraction.
