Crystal structure
determinations based on X-ray powder diffraction data were performed for three
ternary silicides in the Dy–Ni–Si system. The structures of DyNiSi3, Dy3Ni6Si2,
and DyNiSi belong to the structure types SmNiGe3
(Pearson symbol oS20, space group Cmmm, a = 3.9225(3), b =
20.955(1), c = 3.9465(3) Å), Ce3Ni6Si2 (cI44, Im-3m,
a = 8.7640(5) Å), and TiNiSi (oP12, Pnma, a = 6.8625(6), b = 4.1568(5), c = 7.1686(6) Å), respectively. Electrical resistivity measurements confirmed metal behavior
and suggested magnetic phase transitions at low temperature.
