Single-crystal investigation of the EuCu8Ga5 and YbCu5Ga7 phases

Two new ternary phases, EuCu8Ga5 and YbCu5Ga7, were prepared by arc-melting. Their crystal structures were investigated on single-crystal X-ray diffraction data. The above mentioned phases crystallize with known structure types, namely, NaZn13 and ThMn12, respectively. Details of the structures (interatomic distances, coordination of the atoms) are briefly discussed.
